WHΛLTHISИEY’s Immediathism starts with “Boredom”, as a reverb-laden minor-key melody interspersed with deep, but short bass notes plays with a lush pad that shimmers in and out slowly. The piano is not repetitious and there is some development, but the overall mood of the piece does not change too much, except when higher notes are played on the piano.
About five minutes into “Boredom” the bass becomes a little more prominent, and develops slightly. The piano continues playing what sounds like an improvised part, playing notes that although not actually sparse do not fail to sound so due to their context. The piano hits some high notes about a minute from the end of the track, which could be seen as a soft climax to the piece.
“Isolation” is the next track, which begins with semi-tonal piano playing, with the piano being a patch that sounds obscure and dream-like. Once again, there is a slow pad playing under everything, and sparse, subtle bass. The piano develops quite a bit, especially toward the end, and then the track fades out.
“Lapse” starts with low piano notes playing softly. There is a pad present, but it is more subtle. Some soft arhythmic playing of a snare drum occurs, which a creates a constant noise. There are indistinct atmospheric background noises laden with reverb that add to the din, evoking a sense of distance. There is a soft synthesizer patch that plays along with the piano, interspersing its melody with it. Near the end of the song, all sound stops except for a low, repeating piano note, then another note plays and the track ends.
The next track, “Mutual”, begins with piano playing a low, dark melody, with a semi-piano-like synth patch providing reverb-laden, atmospheric melody. There is a sound like wind which occasionally sweeps through the sound stage. Toward the end of the track there is a soft climax, a little more playing, and the song ends.
“Subliminal” begins with the soft synthesizer patch playing melody, with a low bass, and soon the sound of what sounds like artificial rain comes in. There is a long pad with an immense amount of reverb that plays in the background. Again, there are a lot of different notes being played, and not much repetition, but the mood communicates a singular atmosphere, which for the most part remains a constant throughout the entire album.
