“Long Days” starts out with synth brass playing underlying drones and a melody. The drones alternate between two notes, back and forth. Over this the melody develops, starting out simple and becoming quite complex. Another synth plays with the melody and the drones, adding another texture to the mix. The melody slows down a bit, and then fades out, ending the track.
Starting the next track, “When I’m With You, an arpeggio over several octaves plays slowly, as a swelling drone plays in the background. There is a hiss, perhaps of tape, which adds some background noise to the mix. The arpeggio turns into a melody which remains aloof in the mix, nearly fading into the rest of the sound. A synth string chord fades in, droning as it does so, and a repeating fragment of melody plays with it. This situation goes on for a bit, and then the synth string fades out, and the rest of the instruments drop out, except for an obscure melody in the background, which goes on for a bit until it stops, and the track ends.
“Sleep Well” is the third track. A lush synth pad plays, and consonant synth notes accompany it. Quickly, layer upon layer of synthesizer are melded together in a consonant manner, with notes playing consonant harmonies. There is movement on many levels, melodically and harmonically, with the various timbres interacting without dissonance to create a lush wash of sound.
“The final track is titled “Hopeful Thinking”. The sound of the hiss of a record plays. A sustained synth chord drone plays lowly in the background, as a high pitched synth melody with a fast decay on each note plays. Low synth string notes play a melody, and higher synth strings play along in a minor key, creating an aesthetic of melancholy. Some of the sounds drop out, and the crackle of a record again becomes prominent as the high pitched short synth and the synth strings play their final notes, and the track quickly fades out.
