Ovoidulations begins, as a synthesizer which sounds like a synth string with a very long filter sweep on it plays a mid-frequency note that drones, and another note comes in and plays in harmony with the first note, which is followed by a synth melody based on a square wave, perhaps with a little ring modulation on it. There is the sound of a formant filter, and a square-based note with a sharp attack and release plays and stands out as the melodies from the beginning continue to play and develop. Soon, a guitar comes in and plays with heavy effects over the original melodies.
The guitar plays with a little more dissonance and stops briefly, then comes back to the generally consonant vibe of the track thus far. There is subtle development in the melodies that intertwine, although individual components are not meant to stand out (except, maybe, the guitar). Soon, all notes reach a crescendo and break down into drones.
There is a wave of noise that comes in over the consonant drones, and a square wave plays in dissonance. Soon, some periodic noise appears on the sound stage, playing in contrast to the harmonically rich tonal drones which have now ceased to be drones and become more storm-like. A square wave plays over filter sweeps, with the noise moving from left to right speakers, and then back, in a constant pattern. A guitar with lots of delay starts playing simple constructions with a swinging rhythm, as the periodic noise is altered into something far more subtle sounding. A voice-like synth sings in the mix in harmony as the other instruments die down mostly, playing very heavily in the mid-range with very little bass or treble until the instruments start coming back to play a fuller-spectrum sound. The voice is altered with filters, until it sounds voice-like no more. A sitar-like instrument is hinted at while a voice plays with heavy reverb. The guitar comes back, with distortion and heavy delay.
One of the instruments plays back and forth across the speakers with a tremolo effect on it, as the guitar plays very surreal-sounding melodies. A developing pattern of notes plays in the higher-registers of the guitar, as the filter-swept synth string plays prominently. The wash of instruments becomes a little more difficult to discern at this point, but choir-ahhs begin to play in both the mid and lower ranges, as a higher pitched periodic noise plays and is filter-swept a bit. The guitar plays in a lower drone for a bit, and then the sound seems to threaten to break down into noise for a bit, but begins anew with the guitar playing to soft noise, almost voice-like. The guitar fades out, and so do the other instruments. Finally, a string instrument plays in a mid-register tone, and then slowly fades out, ending the album.
