Accidental Tones – Disordered

This release by Accidental Tones starts with “Untitled A”, and the sound of water dripping and flowing with reverb on it fades in, with a deep rumble present as well. There is the sound of something being tapped occasionally with a large amount of delay on it. The sound of voices pitched down and played backwards can be heard simmering in the background. The rumble becomes louder for a bit.

The voices change once in a while, as if a conversation is being had. One voice stands out, then a voice speaks with lots of delay on it, echoing for quite some time. Another voice replies, and a slow conversation is had between the voices, echoing for an unnatural amount of time. The voices seem to stop, but then come back. The effect of the voices is not a cacophony, but an intricately layered sound as the voices speak over one another. No discernible words can be heard, which makes the listener focus on the timbre of the voices.

One voice comes in which stands above the rest, then fades into the din of echoing voices. A woman speaks, then she also fades into the din. The voices stop, leaving only the rumble and the sound of water, as well as the occasional tap, and that is the end of the track.

“Untitled B” begins with shifting movement noises being played over a long delay, with a constant rumble becoming louder over time. Some indiscernible, resonant sounds can be heard. Shifting movement over a long delay creates a sound like a moving train. The resonant noises create a futuristic sound to the track. Toward the end of the piece a sound erupts from the mix and becomes prominent, and then the track ends.

In “Untitled C” a low roar can be heard in the distance, and there is low percussion. The sound of scraping with ring modulation can be heard. Various noises are played through a lot of reverb. The overall atmosphere created is futuristic and subterranian. A few notes of music played on what sounds like a marimba can be heard, until this is corrupted into a mix of ring-modulated noises, and then returns, only to disappear again, and so on. The impression created is rather chthonic in character.

“Untitled D” begins with a distorted, echoing voice creating low feedback while some metal objects are being moved around. The voice continues to speak. A musical tone can be heard a little over halfway through, and it is repeated soon afterward. The metal objects continue to be shifted around, and the voice is pitched up briefly. The general character of the track remains unchanged, however. The track fades out, and Disordered is ended.
