Weith – Weith

This two-track release by Weith, which is self-titled, starts with the track “Menit” and begins with swelling synth horns, which are soon filtered, with a syncopated beat that starts with a fade-in with the cymbals and moves to the rim, and then is taken over by thundering bass drums and punchy snares. A delay-infused bass line with a slight filter sweep begins playing. Then, fast cymbals play, and soon a detuned synth makes itself known. All drops out except for the detuned synth and a droning pad, and the detuned synth becomes less and less detuned, then more so, back and forth. A 303-like (but cleaner) sequence of arpeggios with a resosweep plays. Some slightly distorted sawtooth waveforms play as well. The beats start giving a hint of becoming fractured, and then the song breaks down.

“Obsesle” begins with a punchy FM-synth bass, which plays a call-and-response bassline, which is quickly joined by some rim-work on the drum machine, and then a flubby snare and a snappy clap. Synth brass swells again, playing a two chord progression. There is a metallic hit in the place of a snare on the offbeat, then a synth joins the bassline with a filter sweep on it. The music breaks down, and there is a detuned synthesizer that plays in several filter positions. The drums break down even more, with just a bass drum playing a rhythm with the swelling of the brass and a short synth with reverb on it. The metallic hit returns, and some synth strings play. A more complex rhythm comes in and plays along with the two brass chords. The chords cease, and the call-and-response bassline returns and then plays filtered with a synth on top of it. The detuned synth returns. Then there is another breakdown, with the detuned synth remaining for a bit, and then the music ceases, ending this release.
