Jeritan – SAFE HAVEN EP

SAFE HAVEN EP begins with the track “Stay Home”, with droning, tonal synth pads which are soon accompanied by the occasional pop. There is a brief burst of noise as connections are made, some bassy tones, and then another connection is made and there is more noise. Finally, a connection is made which has shimmering metallic noise which builds up and seems to hang in the mix in its small movements. There are also short moments of bursts of distorted noise, as connections are made and removed. There is a resonance sound like a scream that comes and goes. Then, there are chaotic moments of noise that sounds like distorted things being moved about harshly. Booming occurs, mainly on the low-end, and organic noise like the slurping of something into oblivion comes to be. Distorted noise is connected and disconnected, and there are short shrieks, then longer ones, with distorted resonance being overdriven. The pads cut out, leaving only noise, then come back. The intermittent connection and disconnection of circuits continues, until noise overtakes the whole mix, with many different methods of noise-making being used in rapid fire to produce booms, feedback, resonance, distortion, and finally a tonal drone sound that lasts quite a long time, until it breaks down into rapid-fire, distorted flubbing. Distorted noise comes and goes again and again, with shrieks at the end, as the resonance is overdriven. Finally the flubbing goes out, leaving a distorted drone, and then the sound of pads play an ethereal harmonic progression, ending the track.

“Feel Unsafe to Go Outside” begins, and halting, booming sounds start this mix, with some tonal sound intermixed with noise, as well as distorted resonance coming and going. Finally, instead of halting to silence, the noise has as a base a distorted drone that sounds like a hand rubbing a balloon. There is a series of noises that are extremely fast and have the same basic description as at the beginning of the track, but faster and with a more intense aesthetic. Tones come and go. Noise comes and goes. Overdriven resonance comes and goes as well. The tones flub and glitch, now with a base of distorted static. There is a pause, some tonal noise, and then the previous state of things returns. Soon after, the track ends.
