The album Mental Exhaustion Is A Sign That My Brain Is Afraid Of Something by Yasuyuki Uesugi starts with the track “My Dreams Symbolize My Distorted Spiritual World”. The track begins with a harshly distorted ambience with a resonant filter attached to a slow LFO. The track changes only in subtle ways. The noise is heavy on the mid part of the sound spectrum, with more bass than treble.
“Eliminating Sexual Desire Means That The Day To Be Suicide Is Near” has another LFO modulating a resonant filter playing over noise which is characterized by a dynamic mid-range, a medium amount of bass, and relatively little treble. The track does not change except for the natural fluctuations of noise.
The next track is “There Are Many Things In The World That Aren’t Illegal And Have The Same Effect As Stimulant Drugs”, which has an alarm-like noise playing repeatedly. As the track progresses, again only subtle changes occur. The track is heavy on frequencies in the high-mid range.
In “Joy Is Shattered Immediately” a three-second sequence of harsh noise repeats itself, again sounding like an alarm, but different this time. There is more bass than the previous tracks, and still a lot of mid-range. The next track, “Minorities Are Perceived As Weird” has harsh distorted mid-range like most of the tracks so far, sounding a bit like an alarm once again, but more distant.
“Psychosis Is Created Infinitely” has an LFO with a resonant filter which scrapes the bottom of the frequency spectrum, but does not overpower the sound with bass. The sound does not change except in subtle ways, like all of the other tracks. The track “My Brain Self-Defense Afflicts Me” has another LFO and also a second one which is slower, creating a layered sound. This track is very heavy on the low-mid range.
The final track, “I Tend To Behave Abnormally When My Mind Is Unstable” has an LFO as well, but also what sounds like ring-modulation going on. There are very few low frequencies and an abundance of mids. After this track plays, the album is over.
